Women’s Self-Defense

Due to COVID-19, we regret that no classes will be held the remainder of 2020. Check back in December for any 2021 updates.

This class requires close-up, in-person instruction and hands-on activities that would place everyone at greater risk for contracting/spreading COVID. Please understand that Citizen and Deputy safety are always our priority.

The Sheriff’s Office recognizes the need and importance to educate and empower women in Delaware County to reduce their risk of victimization. The Sheriff’s Office provides the RAD program four times a year. RAD is a nationally recognized program: Rape – Aggression – Defense, that is designed specifically for women. Deputies who are RAD certified lead the 8-hour course, which is taught over the course of 2 consecutive Saturday mornings (4 hours each from 8am – Noon).

These free sessions are hands-on, including instruction, demonstration, and role-playing. Women will get to put their newfound knowledge to the test at the end of the session.

Registration for each session begins three weeks prior and the registration form will appear on this page.
