Women’s Self-Defense

In March of 2021, we will re-evaluate the safety of offering classes throughout 2021. Check back to this page for updates. We appreciate your patience. This class requires close-up, in-person instruction and hands-on activities that would place everyone at greater risk for contracting/spreading COVID. Citizen and Deputy safety are always our priority.

The Sheriff’s Office recognizes the need and importance to educate and empower women in Delaware County to reduce their risk of victimization. The Sheriff’s Office provides the RAD program four times a year. RAD is a nationally recognized program: Rape – Aggression – Defense, that is designed specifically for women. Deputies who are RAD certified lead the 8-hour course, which is taught over the course of 2 consecutive Saturday mornings (4 hours each from 8am – Noon). These free sessions are hands-on, including instruction, demonstration, and role-playing. Women will get to put their newfound knowledge to the test at the end of the session.

2021 Schedule: Due to COVID, we will re-evaluate the course offerings in March 2021.
