Where: Emergency Operations Center 10 Court St. Delaware, Ohio 43015 (Carnegie Building)
Why:
- Delaware County first responders are in the process of creating a Critical Incident Stress Management Team. This training is essential to be a part of this team.
- Information on the formation of the team will be provided during the training.
- The class is open to all first responders (law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers, corrections).
- You must have approval from your agency to attend the training
Course Description:
Crisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; rather, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention, which requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional or psychological first aid.”
Designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum, the Group Crisis Intervention course will prepare participants to understand a wide range of cri-sis intervention services. Fundamentals of CISM will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilizations, defusings, and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.
Cost: FREE. Lunch will be provided.
